MediaCorp Radio is adopting Lifelong Learning as a cause to promote the spirit of learning among Singaporeans in fun and exciting ways.

Over the next few months, MediaCorp Radio stations will broadcast special programmes and organise exciting activities to further this cause. These include the NewsRadio 93.8FM’s Education Seminar in June, Gold 90.5FM’s Money Guide and Class 95FM’s Diving Experience.

In addition, Celebrity Learning Ambassadors have been identified in each of the stations to champion the Lifelong Learning Cause. The learning ambassadors include Eugene Loh (NewsRadio 93.8FM), Vernon Anthonisz (Class 95FM), Daniel Ong (Perfect Ten 98.7FM), Jessica Seet (Gold 90.5FM), Lim Leng Kee (Y.E.S. 93.3FM), Yeow Seng Yong (Capital Radio 95.8FM), Violet Tan Fen Ying (Love 97.2FM), Ryzammuddin A Rahman (Warna 94.2FM), Burhanudin Buang (Ria 89.7FM) and Meenatchi Sabapathy (Oli 96.8FM).

At the Launch of the Lifelong Learning campaign this afternoon at the Ritz Carlton, Memoranda of Understanding were signed with the National Library Board and SPRING Singapore (Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board).

Said Mr Kenneth Tan, Chief Executive Officer of MediaCorp Radio, “For the past few years, the Government has been encouraging Singaporeans to learn new skills and re-invent themselves to stay relevant. As a responsible broadcaster, MediaCorp Radio wants to bring this message to our listeners to lead more fulfilling lives, have better careers and to contribute more to society. We look forward to working with the National Library Board, SPRING Singapore and other partners in the education market to further this cause.”

"The National Library Board is honoured to work with MediaCorp Radio in promoting Lifelong Learning. We believe with the host of exciting programmes lined up in our libraries for this initiative, radio listeners will rediscover the joy of learning. Thus, our libraries fulfill the role of promoting reading and learning as we move forward in a knowledge-based economy" commented Mr R Ramachandran, Deputy Chief Executive of National Library Board.

Said Mr Freddy Soon, Deputy Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore, "SPRING Singapore aims to raise the productivity of enterprises and the workforce. A key task is to build a culture for service excellence and innovation in Singapore. This collaboration with MediaCorp Radio will enable SPRING Singapore to reach out to more enterprises and people through its thrusts in productivity and innovation; standards and conformance; and SMEs and the domestic sector".

Radio reaches 96% of Singapore's population, aged 15 years and above. With its 12 radio stations each targeted at different age groups and different lifestyles, MediaCorp Radio is a concerted and effective medium to reach Singaporeans from all walks of life. To support the national initiative of expanding Singapore’s learning capacity, MediaCorp Radio will leverage on the wide spectrum of the radio stations to inculcate
and reinforce the awareness of lifelong learning and literacy programmes for the young and old.
